Highly regarded novelist, Alyson Richman, will be at the library May 21st beginning at 1:30 PM.  The special book discussion program will be sponsored by both the Library and the Friends of the NBPL.  Ms. Richman will lead the discussion of her latest work, The Lost Wife , a 2012 Long Island Reads book selection.  The novel revolves around lovers torn apart by the Nazi invasion of World War II.  Many years later and a great distance from their last meeting, the two reignite their passionate relationship as if time and thousands fo miles never existed.  The author's comments an a question and answer period are certain to be informative and enjoyable for all attendees.

Thank you for making the all-important decision to become a member.  Just look around the library and you will see much of what we have acomplished with your help.  Those of you who joined our membership before January, 2012 should now renew memberships for 2012.  You can do so at any time using the form in the Inklings.  Please indicate this is a renewal.  We will hold our big membership drive for both new and current members on Sunday, April 22nd.  Everyone will be eligible for raffle prizes.  You need not be present for the drawing.

Schedule the Delectable, Tasty Bake Sale of the Century.  Friends of the Library will host the annual Bake Sale from 1:30PM-3:30PM Sunday, April 22nd.  Be sure to bring along a ravenous appetite when you taste and experience lovingly prepared baked items in all their delicious shapes and forms. 


The event will serve as part of the annual MEMBERSHIP DRIVE we expect to be an overwhelming success spearheaded by our caring, civic-minded residents.  Now is the perfect time to renew or initiate membership in the Friends organization.  A raffle will take place and you may capture a fine gift.

"March" to the library for an exciting Book Sale.  Spring is in the air;  flowers are beginning to bloom and your presence is requested at the Library March 25th for the Friends of the Library Book Sale.  You won't want to miss the sale from 1:30pm-3:30pm.  Take advantage of this colossal event and add gently used volumes to your ever growing personal library.

While visiting the book sale, why not stop and take in "Two Guys and a Gal" music being presented from 2:00pm-3:30pm.  Enjoy!!!

Get Ready For Friends First Annual Art Weekend

This fall, November 3rd and 4th, everyone with a feel for the artistic, from adults to collegians to high school students, are invited and encouraged to plan now for their contributions to this highly anticipated event.  There will be a separate division for grade school and middle school students.  If you draw, paint, sculpt or photograph for pure joy, apply your individual artistic skills and consider being a part of our show.  As questions arise, please e-mail the Friends at  friendsNbpl@gmail.com.  Additional details will be in future issues of The Inklings and on our website.
